2013 Scrum Master Salary Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who filled in our salary survey this year. Here are the results you have all been waiting for! If you would like to do your own analysis, the raw data is available here.

We have more than double the data we had last year, and we find the results mostly consistent with last year’s results. What is clear this year is that salaries are related far more to total number of years of experience in IT that years in the Scrum Master role. This makes sense to us, so our recommendations below are based on total number of years experience. One new thing in this years survey is the emergence of some very well paid contract Scrum Masters in Johannesburg, who on average are earning double their permanent counterparts. These are mostly senior Scrum Masters with more than 10 years of experience in IT.

Our recommended monthly salary brackets are below.

    1. Agree with you on that one Dillion. I’d like to see what the stats are on pure Scrum/Agile experience and not just adding in all 10+ years of IT since you first did NT4.0 or DOS 3.1 and played with your neighbor’s Commodore 64
the new york IT salary survey (most recent one I reviewed) had senior 5+ years SM’s at $ 130,000 PA US. With CSP’s being valued at 36% higher
