For over 4 years I have attended and run Coaching Circles in my local community. I can easily say that most of my learning as a ScrumMaster and Coach has come from these circles. The added bonus for me was also gaining facilitation skills and experience along the way.
What are they?
Coaching Circles are when a group of people get together for a set period of time and together decide to learn or explore a topic. From here the format can vary hugely. This book hope to encourage you to join or start a coaching circle. I have covered many different types, and explained how each can be run and what you can learn from them.
- Systemic Constellations – A way to get another perspective on issues that you are experiencing and how to possibly solve it.
- Single mind Mending – A very structured coaching circle focused on one persons scenario.
- Expert Led – Typically led by an expert in the field with a bunch of people that would like to learn something that the expert knows lots about.
- Innovation Games – This circle allows for a safe space to experiment with games before taking it back to the office.
- Rotating Facilitator – This model that works well if you have a user group and want to kick off coaching circles for this first time. … And many many more!
